Our story: how the studio began

IP Webcraft began with a simple conviction: every business deserves a website built to the same standard, whatever its size. Good design, a solid build, real search visibility. We set out to make that the baseline rather than the upgrade, starting with the businesses around us in Cape Town.

We stayed small on purpose. No account layers, no work handed down a chain. The person you brief is the person who builds. Twenty five years on, that hasn't moved, though the work now travels. A studio that started serving Cape Town now ships to clients on several continents, from single-owner businesses to established brands. Almost everything else, we've rebuilt. We came up when sites were hand-cut and static. We rebuilt when content management arrived and WordPress proved to be the platform worth betting on. Again when browsing went mobile. Again when speed became a ranking signal. Again for Core Web Vitals, the block editor, and AI-driven search, where being found depends on being properly structured.

Every cycle handed us something we could pass straight to clients. Performance budgets, structured data, accessibility, staging environments, automated backups, analytics that answer a real question: all of it was specialist work a decade ago. We learned it, systemised it, and made it ordinary. Today it ships with every project, whether the client is five people or two hundred. A fair amount of that came from experiments that went nowhere. Tools we trialled and dropped, techniques we tested on our own sites long before they went near a client's. We'd rather find the ceiling ourselves than discover it on someone else's launch day. Which brings us to the next rebuild, and this time it's the foundation itself.

Twenty five years inside other people's platforms teaches you exactly where they bend and break. So we've started building our own: a content system where speed, structure and accessibility are native properties rather than plugins bolted on, with AI woven through the workflow instead of stapled to the edge. It's early days. But everything we've learned is going into it, and our clients will be the first to build on it. What hasn't changed since day one is how we start. We learn what makes your business tick, then capture that in fast, SEO-friendly work that performs. The result is a site you can grow into: quick to load, simple to update, and built to bring in real enquiries. Twenty five years of reinvention, and the aim is the one we opened with.
